EB-1A requirements

USCIS does not publish a job list. The regulation is 8 C.F.R. 204.5(h). Extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics. You can self-petition. No job offer. The hard part is the evidence.

The two-step test

Step 1: at least three of the ten criteria, or one one-time achievement such as a Pulitzer, Oscar, or Olympic medal (those are the examples USCIS names). Step 2, final merits: does the whole record show sustained national or international acclaim and a place at the top of the field? Meeting three boxes does not automatically answer Step 2.

You also have to show you will keep working in that field, and that coming to the United States would substantially benefit the country.

Claim versus proof

A resume line is a claim. An exhibit from someone independent is proof. This tool scores both. Officers care about proof: selection criteria for awards, completed judging, independent use of a method, press about you, salary surveys, not only letters from colleagues.

The ten criteria, short

Lesser nationally or internationally recognized awards. Membership that requires outstanding achievement. Published material about you. Judging the work of others. Original contributions of major significance. Scholarly articles. Artistic exhibitions. Leading or critical role. High salary. Commercial success in the performing arts. Comparable evidence is allowed when a box does not fit the field. Mark exhibitions N/A if you are a software engineer. Do not invent a weaker stand-in.

This is not a law firm and does not file petitions. USCIS decides each case on its own record.
