EB-1A for faculty and educators
Also searched as EB1A for faculty and educators.
Education is its own statutory field. Teaching awards, curriculum influence, and scholarly work are not the same file as a research-only petition.
Who this is for
Faculty, deans, and educators whose teaching, curriculum, or scholarship is recognized beyond one campus.
Evidence that usually matters
- Awards for excellence in teaching or education that are national or international and judged
- Original contributions: curriculum, method, or program adopted by other institutions
- Scholarly articles on education or in the teaching field
- Judging: accreditation, thesis, or grant review for others in education
- Critical role at a distinguished school or program, with results tied to you
What often does not hold up
- Campus teacher-of-the-year with no national selection
- Folding this into a ‘researcher’ story when the acclaim is actually teaching
- Student evaluations as if they were published material about you
EB-1A is a self-petition. You can be in any country. The statute names five fields (sciences, arts, education, business, athletics). Meeting three criteria is only Step 1. Final merits still has to show sustained acclaim.
This is not a law firm and does not file petitions. USCIS decides each case on its own record.
