EB-1A for coaches
Also searched as EB1A for coaches.
How coaches show extraordinary ability in athletics: results, judging, and a critical role, not only years on the sideline.
Who this is for
Coaches whose athletes or programs are recognized nationally or internationally, with the coach’s role documented.
Evidence that usually matters
- Leading or critical role for a distinguished club, federation, or program
- Awards for coaching excellence with national or international selection
- Published material about you in major sports media
- Judging: selection panels, officiating at a level that chose you for expertise
- Original contributions: a method other programs adopted
What often does not hold up
- Win-loss record with no independent recognition of you
- Internal club awards
- Treating the athletes’ medals as your award without a documented coaching role
EB-1A is a self-petition. You can be in any country. The statute names five fields (sciences, arts, education, business, athletics). Meeting three criteria is only Step 1. Final merits still has to show sustained acclaim.
This is not a law firm and does not file petitions. USCIS decides each case on its own record.
